Accreditation of Tax Professionals

It was announced on 27 August 2009 by Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Manpower at the Conference on Asia-Pacific Taxation that a new Accreditation Institute for tax professionals in Singapore is being set up by ICPAS. ICPAS’ Immediate Past President and Chairman of Pro-Tem Tax Accreditation Committee, Mr Tan Boen Eng was present at the event and answered press queries relating to the Accreditation Institute.
It is hoped that the proposed Accreditation Institute for tax practitioners will promote in the public interest the technical competence and capability of individual tax practitioners that are granted such accreditation and to raise the standards of tax compliance, reduce compliance costs and thereby help to improve Singapore’s stature as having an efficient and effective business environment. Details of the accreditation scheme such as admission requirements, etc., will be announced in due course. |
