The ICPAS's Young Accountants Group (YAG) Committee held its inaugural networking event - "Networking with Industry Leaders" on 5 January 2007 at The China Club.

The event commenced with Dr Ernest Kan, Partner of Deloitte & Touche and Vice President of ICPAS giving an opening address. Dr Kan highlighted the background and objectives of the newly launched committee and how it played an important role in providing a channel of communication between the Institute and its young members.

This was followed by a welcome address by Mr Jack Wong, Chairman of the YAG Committee. Mr Wang shared that the Committee’s aim was to provide a platform for young accountants in their 20s and 30s with opportunities for professional and leadership developments. He urged all young members to make a greater impact on the accounting profession by contributing their ideas and be more involved in the YAG’s future initiatives.

The Committee invited Mr Aw Soon Beng, CEO of Westcomb Financial Group; Mr. Keoy Soo Earn, Co-founder of Vanden Advisors LLP; and Mr Gerard Low, Group CFO of Delifrance Asia Ltd; to share their diversified career experiences and achievements.

It was an evening of meaningful networking session for everyone, with the event ended with a presentation of mementos by Dr Kan to the various speakers.
